Survival course to learn English from scratch
INSTRUCTIONS TO STUDY
1- watch the video. 2- watch it again repeating after the teacher. 3- read the transcript (optional), see if you understand. 4- watch the video again once or more times until you learn the lesson well. 5- now try to use some objects to reproduce the dialogue (more or less) so you can practise what you just learnt.

This is a picture. Or you can say, "photograph", this is a photograph, or you can say, "this is a picture".

Book = libro
CD = CD (disco compacto)
Picture = imagen (suena parecido a "pikcha" en británico y "pikchor" en americano)
Photograph = Foto (la PH inglesa suena F siempre)
Paper, Newspaper = eriódico.
TThis is the front of the book, this is the back of the book = Esta es la parte delantera del libro, esta es la parte de atrás del libro.
La palabra FRONT suena parecido a "frant" en británico y parecido a "front" en americano. Recuerda que en inglés británico sólo suena la R si va seguida de vocal, así que la palabra PAPER suena con acento británico "peipa", sin R. Otra diferencia entre el acento británico y el americano (no hay muchas) es el diptongo "iu", que los americanos hacen "uu" (con una U larga). En la palabra NEWSPAPER, los británicos dicen algo así como "niuspeipa" y los americanos "nuuspeiper".
Si tú estudias inglés americano puedes olvidarte de todas las variaciones que explico sobre el inglés británico, pero si estudias inglés británico tienes que prestar atención a los cambios que comento, porque este curso está grabado en inglés americano, lo cual te da la ventaja de acostumbrarte también a cómo suenan los americanos, pero en tu pronunciación debes mantener la británica.
