INSTRUCTIONS TO STUDY
1- watch the video. 2- watch it again repeating after the teacher. 3- read the transcript (optional), see if you understand. 4- watch the video again once or more times until you learn the lesson well. 5- now try to use some objects to reproduce the dialogue (more or less) so you can practise what you just learnt.

Which one, the one in the middle? = ¿Cuál, el del medio?
No, the one next to it. = No, el de al lado.
En español podemos usar el artículo determinado (el, la, los, las) como sustantivo, o sea, él solito, sin acompañar a ningún nombre. Por ejemplo:
- ¿Quieres el vaso grande o el pequeño?
- Prefiero el pequeño 
el pequeño = el vaso pequeño. El = El vaso
La palabra "vaso" es el sustantivo o nombre, y "el" en este caso hace la función de pronombre porque sustituye al nombre, al sustantivo (en este ejemplo, sustituye a vaso).
Esto no puede ocurrir en inglés, así que, como siempre, usaremos ONE para sustituir al sustantivo, para no repetir el nombre:
- Which glass?
- The big one one = glass
- Which glass?
- The one in the middle The one = the glass.
