INSTRUCTIONS TO STUDY
1- watch the video. 2- watch it again repeating after the teacher. 3- read the transcript (optional), see if you understand. 4- watch the video again once or more times until you learn the lesson well. 5- now try to use some objects to reproduce the dialogue (more or less) so you can practise what you just learnt.

- Now, would you move the green apple away from the red apple?
- Ok. Is that good? Is that far enough?
- No, maybe a little farther. Maybe a little bit farther.
- Ok. How's that?
- That's good.
- Tom, can you move the apples closer together? Closer to each other?
- Sure
- How's that?
- That's good.
- Now can you move them apart? Away from each other?

- A little farther apart. A little more away from each other.

Would you move the apples closer together? = ¿Te importaría poner las manzanas más juntas? (literalmente dice: "mover las manzanas más cerca juntas)
Closer together? Sure. How's that? = ¿Más juntas? Claro, ¿qué tal así?
Podemos matizar usando A BIT:
A bit closer = un poco más cerca
A little bit closer = un poquito más cerca
Away from = lejos de
- Move the apple away from the table = aleja la manzana de la mesa
Together = junto
Closer together = más juntos
Closer to each other = más juntos el uno del otro (each other = el uno del otro)
Apart from each other = separados el uno del otro.
Is that far enough? = ¿es eso lo suficientemente lejos?
Fíjate que ENOUGH significa "suficiente" o "suficientemente", se pronuncia "inaf" y se pone detrás de la palabra a la que califica (no delante, como hace el español).
- You're not big enough = no eres suficientemente alto
- I have enough books = tengo suficientes libros.
Vamos a repasar un poco cosas que hemos visto en el vídeo anterior:
El comparativo de CLOSE es CLOSER (añadiendo la terminación -ER), así que si CLOSE es "cerca", CLOSER es "más cerca". Antes hemos visto esta palabra con otro significado, el verbo CLOSE = "cerrar" y el adjetivo CLOSED = "cerrado", pero también tenemos este adverbio que significa "cerca".
La terminación -ER del comparativo suena algo entre "er" y "or" en inglés americano y parecido a "a" en inglés británico (la R final sólo la pronunciarían si detrás hay una vocal, pero en esta frase detrás hay una T así que no sonaría).

AmE "clousor" BrE "clousa"
Otra expresión nueva que aparece aquí es HOW'S THAT?, que significa literalmente "¿cómo es eso?", pero que a menudo se utiliza, como aquí, con el significado de "¿qué te parece eso?" o "¿qué tal lo he hecho?" o "¿así es como quieres?".
