INFORMATION ABOUT ANSWER-TIPS:
Much more than an online dictionary
In almost all the pages on this website (including this one) you can use all the power of AnswerTips to help you there.
What is AnswerTips?
It's a simple but powerful device that will let you get a lot of information from any word on this website. All you have to do is double-click a word (click on it twice quickly) and a small bubble will appear, looking like this:

That window appeared when we doubled click on the word sometimes. You can double-click a word here and see it yourself.
By default, we can see the dictionary, with the word definition, phonetic transcription (American style) and the picture of a speaker:
. If we click on the speaker we can hear the pronunciation of that word. If we click on the blue transcription
then a window will open up showing the meaning of the symbols used in the transcription. Some words don't have a speaker, only the transcription, but most words come with sound.
But this is much more than a dictionary, at the top you have other options too. These options change depending on the word we click, but some of the usual options are:
- Thesaurus: a list of synonyms (words and phrases which mean the same), so you can understand it better and learn new words at the same time.
- Antonyms: a list of words which mean the opposite.
- Word Tutor: linguistic explanations and examples (with voice), to help you use the word correctly.
- Wikipedia: you can read the entry of this word in the most popular Encyclopaedia of the web.
- Translations: the translation of this word into different languages.
If you look at the top right corner of the window you can see a link that says Personalize. If you click there you can choose the information you want to see on this window, including what thing you want to show first (dictionary, translation, etc.) and what language you want to use for the translation.
