Hello and welcome to VideoJug.
Having zits, pimples and spots isn't easy and even the most confident of people can become self-conscious and upset. Whether you suffer from a lot of blemishes or just the occasional breakout, follow our advice to help you cover up even the most noticeable of acne.
________________________________________
Step 1:
Prepare

Before you even contemplate techniques to cover spots it’s important to prepare correctly. This means always washing your face thoroughly before going to bed. Also make sure you moisturise any blemishes as it’s easier to cover a spot if it’s red than if it’s dry or flaky.
________________________________________
Step 2:
Foundation

Depending on what suits your skin, you could either use a foundation or a tinted moisturiser on your face, and for smaller blemishes and spots this can sometimes be enough. This isn't a necessity but if you normally use these products then they should be applied before any concealer is used.

Step 3:
Concealer

There are a number of different concealers on the market, but if you’re using a liquid concealer, warm a small amount of it on the back of your hand, and using a small brush or cotton bud apply it directly onto the spot. You can also get medicated concealers which will help to heal blemishes and decrease their redness.

Step 4:
Blend

Finally, using a small brush or cotton bud, blend the concealer at the edges of the spot onto the rest of the skin to give a more even finish.

Done.

Explanations

ZIT= (slang) a pimple

PIMPLE= A small swollen infected spot on the skin.

SPOT= A small mark or pimple on the skin, usually red, common when you are a teenager.

SELF-CONSCIOUS= Shy, excessively conscious of one's appearance or manner.

UPSET= Angry, disturbed, distressed.

WHETHER YOU SUFFER... OR= We use WHETHER... OR to present two alternatives:
- Whether you drink wine or (you drink) beer, you shouldn’t drive afterwards.
- I will go there whether you like it or not.
We can also use IF (if you drink wine or beer, you shouldn’t drive afterwards). But when IF is a conditional conjunction you can’t use WHETHER instead (I’ll give it to you if you come with me)

SUFFER FROM= Notice the conjunction.

BLEMISH= A mark or flaw that spoils the appearance of something (especially on a person's body)

OCCASIONAL= That doesn’t happen often.

BREAOUT= Eruption. "The occasional breakout" here means a spot that appears only from time to time (not often).

THOROUGHLY= (pronounced ʌrəlɪ/) Exhaustively, completely.

MOISTURISE= To make humid.

FLAKY= Forming flakes. A flake is a flat thin piece or layer; a chip (for instance, the cereal flakes you get in Cornflakes for breakfast). A flaky spot or pimple is producing flakes of dry skin.

FOUNDATION= A cosmetic base, a kind of coloured cream you put on your face before applying make-up on top.

TINTED= With colour.

SHOULD= We use this modal verb to give advice.

CONCEALER= a make-up product with a colour similar to our skin, used to conceal spots and marks on our skin. To conceal is to hide away, so that you can’t see it.

COTTON BUD= A small stick with cotton wool tips used for cleaning the ears, applying make-up, etc.

HEAL= To cure, to restore to health.

DECREASE= Make smaller.

THEIR REDNESS= Their red colour.

BLEND= To combine or mix so that the constituent parts are indistinguishable from one another.

EDGE= A border or line where something ends or begins.

ONTO= The same as ON but expressing movement. ON is to ONTO the same as IN is to INTO.

EVEN= uniform. An even finish is a uniform result.
