Transcript

I look around and see my wonderful life
Almost perfect from the outside
In picture frames I see my beautiful wife
Always smiling
But on the inside, I can hear her saying...

Lead me with strong hands
Stand up when I can't
Don't leave me hungry for love
Chasing dreams, but what about us?

Show me you're willing to fight
That I'm still the love of your life
I know we call this our home
But I still feel alone”

I see their faces, look in their innocent eyes
They're just children from the outside
I'm working hard, I tell myself they'll be fine
They're independent
But on the inside, I can hear them saying...

“Lead me with strong hands
Stand up when I can't
Don't leave me hungry for love
Chasing dreams, but what about us?

Show me you're willing to fight
That I'm still the love of your life
I know we call this our home
But I still feel alone”

So Father, give me the strength
To be everything I'm called to be
Oh, Father, show me the way
To lead them
Won't You lead me?

To lead them with strong hands
To stand up when they can't
Don't want to leave them hungry for love,
Chasing things that I could give up

I'll show them I'm willing to fight
And give them the best of my life
So we can call this our home
Lead me, 'cause I can't do this alone, no

Father, lead me, 'cause I can't do this alone

Explanations

PICTURE FRAMES= A thing you put around a photograph to hold it and decorate it (see picture)

LEAD ME= guide me, drive me in the right direction.

CHASING= running after something in order to get it. Looking for, seeking.

WHAT ABOUT US?= And what is it going to happen with us? aren't we more important (than the dreams you're chasing)?

YOU'RE WILLING TO= You want to

FATHER= (Christian) God

STRENGTH= The quality of being strong

I'M CALLED TO BE= (Christian) If you are called to be something, God wants you to be that thing.

WON'T YOU LEAD ME?= Please, lead me.
We can use WILL in the affirmative or in the negative (won't) to ask for a favour:
- will you open the window, please? = won't you open the window, please? = please, open the window.
If we want to make a more direct petition, but still polite, we can use the tag , WILL YOU?:
- Open the window, will you?
In colloquial English we use this construction a lot, often with a weakened form of YOU: YA
- Open, the window, will ya

WANT TO= (coll. also spelled wanna) /wɒnə/ In American English, very often (especially in some areas) N+T=N (the T disappears when it goes after an N), so want to = wanto = wanna. (wanna is also used in colloquial BrE but not so much)

GIVE UP= If you give something up, you stop using it, having it or wanting it.

SO WE CAN= The construction SO + subject + CAN is used to express purpose as a more formal alternative to infinitive with TO:
- I need the keys to open this door = I need the keys so I can open the door
In these examples, the subject of the main clause is the same as the subject in the subordinate clause (I need the keys, I want to open the door), so both constructions are possible. But when the subjects are different we can't use infinitive+TO, we have to use the construction with SO + sb. + CAN:
- I'm going to open the door so you can come in (I'll open the door, you'll come in)
The construction SO+sb+CAN is a bit more colloquial than the complete construction, which includes THAT, so the normal standard construction is SO THAT + Subject + CAN:
- Tell me what you need so that I can help you.
- She stayed with the children so that we could go to the cinema.
