Para dar y entender direcciones necesitarás manejar las preposiciones de movimiento. En este vídeo se explican la mayoría de ellas. Algunas preposiciones de movimiento son igual que las preposiciones de situación, otras no:

ACROSS = A través de
- He is walking across the street (está cruzando/atravesando la calle)
OVER = Por encima de
- He jumped over the wall (salto por encima del muro)
OUT OF = Fuera de
- He came out of the house (salió de la casa)
INTO = adentro, al interior
- They came into the car (entraron en el coche)
UP = Hacia arriba
- Look up, there's a new star there! (mira arriba, hay una nueva estrella allí)
DOWN = Hacia abajo
- She came down the stairs in her beautiful dress (bajó las escaleras con su precioso vestido)
THROUGH= A través de
- The robber jumped through the window (el ladrón saltó por/a través de la ventana)
PAST= Más allá de
- We walked past a bar, but we didn't stop (cuando íbamos andando pasamos un bar, pero no paramos)
UNDER= Por debajo de
- The river goes under an old bridge (el río va por debajo de un viejo puente)
ONTO= Encima de (movimiento)
- He jumped onto the table and starte to dance (saltó ecima de la mesa / se subió a la mesa de un salto y se puso a bailar)
OFF= Quitarse de una superficie
- Come off the table, are you crazy? (bájate de la mesa ¿estás mal de la cabeza?)
ALONG= A lo largo de, por
- Don't walk along the road, it's dangerous (no andes por la carretera, es peligroso)

ACROSS = from one side to the other
- He is walking across the street
OVER = Up and then down
- He jumped over the wall
OUT OF = To the outside
- He came out of the house
INTO = To the inside
- They came into the car
UP = To a higher position
- Look up, there's a new star there!
DOWN = To a lower position
- She came down the stairs in her beautiful dress
THROUGH= inside and then outside
- The robber jumped through the window
PAST= further than
- We walked past a bar, but we didn't stop
UNDER= in a lower position
- The river goes under an old bridge
ONTO= Moving to a surface
- He jumped onto the table and started to dance
OFF= Moving away from a surface
- Come off the table, are you crazy?
ALONG= Moving by the side of something long
- Don't walk along the road, it's dangerous
